More than $436,000 awarded to support projects, programs across Appalachian Ohio
NELSONVILLE, Ohio – The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio’s 15 affiliate foundation partners have awarded $436,195 in grants to support projects and programs benefiting the region’s residents and communities, including several youth-led initiatives.
FAO’s 14 geographic affiliate foundations and the regionwide African American Community Fund, in partnership with FAO, invited nonprofits, schools and public organizations to apply for grants to advance opportunities across five areas essential to flourishing communities: arts and culture, community and economic development, education, environmental stewardship, and health and human services. Emphasis is on supporting individuals of all ages who are spearheading projects and programs that create opportunities, meet pressing needs and unleash the collective potential within the region.
FAO and its affiliate foundation partners also accepted funding proposals for projects developed and implemented by youth under age 18. The goal of this funding is to inspire young people to embrace roles as changemakers committed to creating strong, vibrant communities.
