More than $15,000 awarded to support projects, programs benefiting Jackson County

JACKSON, Ohio – The Jackson County Community Foundation (JCCF), in partnership with the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO), has awarded nine grants, totaling $15,600, to support projects and programs benefiting the county’s residents and communities.

“Behind each of these grants is love – from the donors who make this funding possible and the doers who turn our donors’ generosity into opportunities for Jackson County,” said Judy Hamilton, JCCF committee member. “We are honored and grateful to partner with all who are committed to ensuring our people and communities flourish.”

Nonprofits, schools and public organizations serving Jackson County were invited to apply for grants to advance opportunities across five areas essential to flourishing communities: arts and culture, community and economic development, education, environmental stewardship, and health and human services. Emphasis is on supporting individuals of all ages who are spearheading projects and programs that create opportunities, meet pressing needs and unleash the collective potential within Jackson County.

Grants were awarded to:

  • Christ Church of Jackson to support the Mission Team’s “Thanksgiving to Go” project that provides Thanksgiving meals for residents of the Cambrian Apartments, which provides assisted housing for the elderly and individuals with disabilities; men at Warriors for Christ in Jackson, a nonprofit, faith-based drug and alcohol addiction treatment center; and shut-ins from the church
  • Community Assault Prevention Services to help fund its domestic violence shelter
  • Jackson County Forward to install trailhead signs at Hammertown Lake and signage for the community garden in Jackson
  • Jackson-Vinton Farm Bureau to expand the impact of its annual Agriculture Experience Day, a free educational field trip provided to all second graders in Jackson and Vinton counties, by providing teacher’s packets that will allow learning to continue once students return to the classroom
  • Oak Hill Historical Society to support the further development of Edwards Corner Park
  • Oaks United to provide food boxes at Christmas to Oak Hill School District students
  • Southern Hills Arts Council to support the 2025 Movies at Manpower outdoor movie screenings at Manpower Park in Jackson
