More Than $200,000 Given to Appalachian Ohio Projects
Nelsonville, OH – Twelve community funds of the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO) recently awarded grants to area projects for a combined impact of more than $200,000.
Community fund committees in the counties of Gallia, Guernsey, Harrison, Highland, Hocking, Jackson, Meigs, Monroe and Morgan designated dollars for recipients, as did the Nelsonville Community Foundation, serving Nelsonville and its surrounding communities. Each fund committee consists of local representatives from the communities served by that fund. To qualify for funding, a nonprofit’s project or program must benefit the people and communities of that geographic area across the five Pillar of Prosperity areas – Arts & Culture, Community & Economic Development, Education, Environmental Stewardship, and Health & Human Services.
The African American Community Fund, serving Black communities in all 32 counties of Appalachian Ohio, also awarded grant funding in this recent round. The committee is comprised of Black leaders from across multiple counties in Appalachian Ohio.
