Peoples Bank Shows Further Commitment to Growing Home in Appalachian Ohio
Nelsonville, OH – Two years ago, the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO) celebrated the opening of a new office on the Nelsonville Public Square. The office was only possible because Peoples Bank had donated the building to FAO so that the former bank could continue to be a true community asset. On Thursday, Peoples Bank reaffirmed its commitment to creating opportunities in Appalachian Ohio with a $32,000 gift to FAO.
“Every day for the past two years, FAO has been grateful for Peoples Bank’s generosity in donating this building to us,” said Cara Dingus Brook, FAO’s president and CEO. “Our office space has accelerated our mission and this most recent gift shows Peoples Bank’s leadership in making a lasting difference here in Appalachian Ohio.”
Brook was joined by Larry Holdren, SVP – Business Development and Community Relations, Matt Evans, SVP Trust Officer, of Peoples Bank and FAO Board Member and Rocky Brands Chairman Mike Brooks at the Foundation Office to celebrate the $32,000 gift to FAO. The gift supports the Foundation’s mission to create opportunities for the citizens and communities of Appalachian Ohio by inspiring and supporting philanthropy.
The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio was created to help the Appalachian Ohio region grow the philanthropic resources available for communities and nonprofits. With fewer philanthropic assets in Appalachian Ohio, the region’s communities did not have the same ability to address challenges and pursue new opportunities. These philanthropic funds offer a flexible way for communities and nonprofits to make a difference for citizens.
“Peoples Bank is proud of the partnership we have with the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio,” said Rick Stafford, Executive Vice President of Peoples. “The Foundation is building a legacy of growing home with these communities. The funds being created today will impact generations to come and Peoples Bank is glad to be a part of that.”
In partnership with FAO, eight counties that had been without local philanthropy in years past are now growing the funds they’ve long needed for community development through new opportunities. With Peoples Bank’s gift, FAO will have the opportunity to help more communities grow home.
