New Scholarship Supports Graduating LHS Students
Logan, OH – Graduating Logan High School students have an opportunity to obtain a scholarship for pursuing STEM, teaching, or business careers.
The Jim Raeder Helping Hand Scholarship Fund was established by Raeder to help students who show academic promise achieve a college education. Raeder had the benefit of a college education; it served him well and he values it highly. He adopted Ohio, and particularly Appalachian Ohio, as his home and wants to contribute to his community. Raeder established the Help Hand Scholarship to address the rising cost of a college education.
To be eligible for the Jim Raeder Helping Hand Scholarship applicants must be a graduating senior of Logan High School in Hocking County ranking in the top third of the class. The student must attend a public four-year college or university in the State of Ohio to pursue a bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: science, technology, engineering, math, teaching, or business administration.
Recipients will receive support for all fours years of college if they continue to meet the eligibility criteria.
The Jim Raeder Helping Hand Scholarship is a fund of the Hocking County Community Fund under the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO), a regional community foundation serving the 32 counties of Appalachian Ohio.
FAO’s general scholarship application form will be available February 15, 2022 from the Logan High School guidance office and on FAO’s website at www.AppalachianOhio.org/ScholarshipApplications.
