iBELIEVE in StudentLeadership Fund Established to BuildLeadership Skills in Appalachian Ohio

Nelsonville,OH Investing in the future ofleadership in Appalachian Ohio is vital to our region. To ensure AppalachianOhio’s youth are being prepared to lead in their schools now and continue tolead in their communities in the future, the iBELIEVE Foundation hasestablished the iBELIEVE in Student Leadership Fund at the Foundation forAppalachian Ohio (FAO).

 

Designed to provide leadership, communication andproblem solving skills to Appalachian youth and young adults, so they becomesuccessful future leaders in their schools, and most importantly, theircommunities, the iBELIEVE in Student Leadership Fund is currently focused onproviding scholarship support to enable high school student participation inthe Ohio Association of Student Councils (OASC) summer leadership camp.Participating in this camp enables students to gain the necessary soft skillsand leadership training critical to current and future success.

 

“Thisis a forward-thinking approach to preparing today’s students to become ourregion’s leaders,” said Cara Dingus Brook, FAO’s President and CEO. “FAO isprivileged to support the iBELIEVE Foundation in its mission.”

 

Through the generosity ofmany early donors, the iBELIEVE Foundation began supporting students inattending the OASC’s summer leadership camp in 2011 and is working to grow itsability to support more students’ participation across the Appalachian Ohioregion each year. Gifts to the Fund will enable students to gain a strongfoundation of core leadership skills to implement in their schools, promotingand encouraging success and post-secondary pursuits.

 

TheFund is advised by the iBELIEVE Foundation Board of Directors including MiriamKeith, Consumer Support Coordinator at the Washington County NHRB; PatrickKlein, CEO of PB&J Consultants and Executive Director of the iBELIEVEFoundation; Theresa Klein, Adjunct Professor at the Columbus State CommunityCollege; Roger Mace, Superintendent of Bloom Carroll School District; DavidSmith, Executive Director of the Graduate Programs Office at the Fisher Schoolof Business; Katie Smith, WNBA Professional with the Seattle Storm andthree-time Olympic Gold Medalist; and Donald Stenta, Executive Director, TheOhio State University Recreation Department.

 

To raise support for theinitiative, the iBELIEVE Foundation will be hosting a benefit dinner on Friday,March 9 at 6PM at the Ohio Stadium Huntington Club. Guests will enjoy athree-course dinner complete with wine pairings, as well as live entertainmentand a silent auction. During the evening, the iBELIEVE Foundation will honor TallyHart, former OSU Economic Access Director, for her lifetime dedication tofirst-generation students. Anyone interested in supporting iBELIEVE can attendthe event for $150 a seat or $1,350 for a table of 10. Proceeds from this eventwill support the iBELIEVE Foundation in sending Appalachian Ohio students to a5-day, 4-night student leadership camp. Contributionsto the Fund can be made in a variety of ways, including: outright gifts of cashor long-term appreciated securities; memorial gifts of cash or assets in memoryor in honor of someone special; and deferred gifts through bequests, giftannuities, life insurance, and charitable remainder trusts and are fullytax-deductible.
