Nearly $181,000 awarded to support projects, programs in Gallia, Harrison, Highland, Hocking, Jackson and Monroe counties as well as regionwide through AACF
NELSONVILLE, Ohio – Seven of the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio’s affiliate foundation partners have awarded nearly $181,000 in grants to support projects and programs benefiting the people in their communities.
FAO’s geographic affiliate foundations in Gallia, Harrison, Highland, Hocking, Jackson and Monroe counties, as well as the regionwide African American Community Fund, invited nonprofit and public organizations to apply for grants to advance opportunities across five funding areas: arts and culture, community and economic development, education, environmental stewardship, and health and human services. Emphasis is on supporting individuals of all ages who are spearheading projects and programs that create opportunities, meet pressing needs and unleash the potential within Appalachian Ohio communities.
A total of 78 grants were awarded:
- The African American Community Fund awarded more than $32,000 through 17 grants.
- The Gallia Community Foundation awarded nearly $24,000 through 10 grants.
- The Harrison County Community Foundation awarded nearly $28,000 through 13 grants.
- The Highland County Community Fund awarded $12,000 through six grants.
- The Hocking County Community Fund awarded more than $21,000 through 10 grants.
- The Jackson County Community Foundation awarded nearly $20,000 through eight grants.
- The Monroe County Community Foundation awarded nearly $45,000 through 14 grants.
Grant applications for FAO’s affiliate foundation partners in Guernsey, Lawrence, Meigs, Morgan, Noble, Perry and Vinton counties, as well as in Nelsonville and its surrounding communities, closed on Sept. 9, and recipients will be announced soon.
In 2024, FAO’s 15 affiliate foundation partners awarded more than $435,000 in grants to support projects and programs benefiting the region’s residents and communities.
