Funding to support healthcare, domestic violence and higher education initiatives in Vinton County
NELSONVILLE, Ohio – Nonprofit and public organizations serving Vinton County are invited to apply for 2024 grants through the Michele L. Hart Legacy Fund.
Rebecca “Becky” Hart established the Michele L. Hart Legacy Fund at the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO) in 2017 in memory of her late sister, to support areas closest to Michele’s heart: healthcare, domestic violence and higher education.
Grant applications will be accepted Thursday, May 16, through Thursday, June 27. Funding requests between $500 and $1,500 will be considered.

In 2023, Michele L. Hart Legacy Fund grants were awarded to:
- Hocking College Foundation to fund a scholarship for a Vinton County High School graduate.
- Hopewell Health Centers in McArthur for the development of a nature and wellness trail and garden.
- Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio to help cover overnight stays for Vinton County families.
- Vinton County Health Department to support its annual Bike Rodeo, a bicycle safety event for local youth.
