Leadership Columbiana County Receives Inaugural Grant
Walnut Creek, OH – Dale Hileman was known for his deep commitment to economic development in Appalachian Ohio. Now, with grant awards to support economic development projects from the Dale Hileman Legacy Fund, that legacy will live on forever. The inaugural grant award from the Dale Hileman Legacy Fund, a fund of the Foundation for Appalachan Ohio (FAO),was announced at the April 28 annual meeting of the Eastern Ohio Development Alliance (EODA)
Mr. Hileman was a native of Columbiana County and believed deeply in the importance of leadership development programming. To honor his roots and his life’s work, the inaugural $600 grant award will support Leadership Columbiana County. Serving Columbiana County citizens, Leadership Columbiana County supports leadership development programming for youth and adults in Columbiana County.
“We are so pleased to honor Dale’s legacy by awarding the inaugural grant from the Fund bearing his name to Leadership Columbiana County,” said Jim Schoch, executive director of EODA. “ It is with great appreciation for the difference Dale made in his lifetime that we look forward to what these grants in his name will make possible for the coming generations.”
The Dale Hileman Legacy Fund promotes the same cause Mr. Hileman championed throughout his life, economic development and growth. The Dale Hileman Legacy Fund will support organizations working to promote economic growth within the 16 counties served by EODA, comprising Athens, Belmont, Carroll, Columbiana, Coshocton, Guernsey, Harrison, Holmes, Jefferson, Monroe, Morgan, Muskingum, Noble, Perry, Tuscarawas, and Washington counties.
Mr. Hileman passed away in February 2015 after a lifetime of service to eastern Ohio. He worked for Columbia Gas of Ohio for 40 years in Carrollton, Jackson, and Cambridge. Even after his retirement, he continued to serve the region he loved. When he and his wife, Evelyn, stayed in Cambridge, Ohio in Guernsey County upon his retirement, Mr. Hileman remained committed to improving quality of life while steadfastly promoting his community.
