Deadline to Apply Is May 1
Corning, OH – As the days get warmer and longer, the end of another school year comes closer as a long-awaited day – graduation – draws near. The march towards graduation day is accompanied by a search for scholarships as students look forward to what comes next in their education. The Southern Perry County Academic Endowment Fund (SPCAEF) is pleased to once again open its annual scholarship application to students throughout Southern Perry County. SPCAEF is also pleased to announce the opening of its annual grant application for organizations and schools serving Southern Perry County as well. Additional information and this year’s scholarship and grant applications can be found on the Fund’s webpage, www.AppalachianOhio.org/SouthernPerry. Applications are due Sunday, May 1, 2016.
“We know how important education is to ensure that young people in Southern Perry County achieve their goals and dreams,” said Lynann Bolyard, a committee member with the Southern Perry County Academic Endowment Fund. “These scholarships and the donors who made them possible play an essential role in the pursuit of post-secondary education for our students and we are happy to help the next generation of leaders in our communities.”
The SPCAEF’s Family of Funds is composed of 20 donor-established funds which offer a variety of scholarships to support students in different areas of study and pursuing varied interests. Students can identify one or multiple scholarships suited to their educational plans.
Community grants are also available through the month of April. These grants can be used to fund educational programs throughout Southern Perry County, which create a positive impact on the community. These grants have been used to fund a variety of programs in the past, including historical preservation, community arts and culture programming, and classroom enrichment activities and resources.
Completed applications and all accompanying materials must be postmarked by Sunday, May1, 2016 and sent to SPCAEF, Foundation for Appalachian Ohio, PO Box 456, Nelsonville, Ohio 45764. SPCAEF was created in in 1987 to create resources to promote academic experiences for residents of the Southern Local School district. A member of the Community Foundation for Perry County’s Family of Funds, SPCAEF partners with the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO) to provide scholarships as well as community mini-grants to promote academic excellence and enrichment opportunities for Southern Local School District residents.
