109 Students Awarded Scholarships in Appalachian Ohio

Nelsonville, OH One hundred and nine students across Appalachian Ohio have received scholarship awards for the 2015-2016 academic year. The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO) awarded 139 scholarships this year, totaling over $183,000 in post-secondary support to the region’s students. This represents a more than $30,000 increase in total scholarship dollars awarded to over 20 additional students through 30 more scholarships compared to 2014.

“We are grateful for the many individuals and businesses who gave to create scholarship opportunities for our region’s students,” said Cara Dingus Brook, president and CEO of the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio. “These donors are opening the doors to post-secondary education for our region’s students.”

The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio’s mission is to create opportunities for Appalachian Ohio’s citizens and communities by inspiring and supporting philanthropy. FAO is honored to partner with our donor-established scholarship funds in both supporting the continued educational pursuits of the region’s students and honoring the legacy and story behind each fund.

Each year, the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio’s scholarship funds offer opportunities to students across the 32 counties of Appalachian Ohio. Available through donor-established funds within the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio, many honoring the legacy of a friend or loved one, scholarships are awarded through a competitive application process.
