The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO) announced theapplication period for scholarships supporting students’ post-secondarypursuits has opened, and will run through April 1, 2013. Multiple scholarshipopportunities are available from donor-established funds within FAO, anddetailed information regarding eligibility and application guidelines can befound here.
“We have beenhonored to work with donors, both individuals and businesses, in growingpermanent funds to support the academic pursuits of our region’s students,” saidFAO President and CEO Cara Dingus Brook. “FAO isprivileged each year to award scholarships to encourage and support students inpursuing their educational dreams.”
The followingscholarships are currently available:
· The AK Steel Foundation Student ScholasticAward for Science, Technology, Math and Engineering was established by theAK Steel Foundation to provide a permanent source of scholarship support forstudents pursuing studies in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics,with particular emphasis on metallurgy.
· Ora E. Anderson Scholarship, established to honor the memory of Ora EatonAnderson and his lifelong contributions toward the conservation of AppalachianOhio’s natural environment, the scholarship provides support to studentspursuing studies associated with the natural sciences.
· Bellisio Foods Scholarship, established by Bellisio Foods to increase access topost-secondary opportunities for dependent children and grandchildren ofBellisio employees, scholarships support programs providing training andcertification in various trades and fields of vocational interest, associatedegree programs, and four year institutions of higher learning.
· Bob Evans and Wayne White Legacy Scholarship, established to honor both men’s tremendous legacy inencouraging continued academic endeavors after high school, scholarships areavailable to students pursing post-secondary. This year, the AT&TFoundation has supported the Bob Evans and Wayne White Legacy Scholarship witha $10,000 contribution, providing funding for 20 scholarship awards.
· Ariana R. Ulloa Scholarship, established by family and friends to honor thememory and life’s work of Ariana R. Ulloa, scholarships support internationalstudents pursuing any field of study, or students pursuing a degree ininternational studies.
