The Michael C. Long Legacy Scholarship Fund was established by his wife, Joanelle, and family to honor future Buckeye Trail students from Quaker City, Ohio, who are college bound with an emphasis on those attending The Ohio State University to major in engineering. Mike grew up in Quaker City, Ohio, and was named “Most Likely to Succeed” in his 1966 Zane Trace Yearbook. He worked summers for Valadium during college at The Ohio State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in 1971 and his master’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering in 1973. Mike spent his career in the automotive industry in Michigan and his true passions were coaching Little League, playing golf, traveling on family and friend vacations, and cheering on The O.S.U. Buckeyes.
Criteria:
- Tier 1: Graduating senior from Buckeye Trail High School, with a Quaker City address, who is pursuing a 4-year degree.
- Tier 2: Preference will be given to students attending The Ohio State University.
- Tier 3: Graduating and attending The Ohio State University with a degree in engineering.
