About Jim Raeder

Jim Raeder adopted Ohio – and particularly Appalachian Ohio – as his home. Recognizing the value of education, he established the Helping Hand Scholarship to address the rising cost of a college education. His goal? To contribute to his community and help students who show academic promise attend college.

Eligibility Requirements and Criteria
  • Graduating senior of Logan High School in Hocking County ranking in the top third of the class
  • Attending an accredited four-year college or university whose main campus is in Ohio
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: science, technology, engineering, math, teaching or business administration

Recipients will receive support for all four years of college if they continue to meet eligibility criteria and send FAO their transcript.

* Denotes that this scholarship is included in FAO’s general scholarship application, which allows applicants to apply for nearly 30 scholarship opportunities through one application.

Application Period

Applications are accepted annually in January and February.
