AK Steel Foundation
Headquartered in West Chester, Ohio (Greater Cincinnati), AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steels, primarily for automotive, infrastructure and manufacturing, construction and electrical power generation and distribution markets.
The AK Steel Foundation Student Scholastic Award for Science, Technology, Math and Engineering provides a permanent source of scholarship support for students pursuing studies in STEM fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, with particular emphasis on metallurgy. Scholarships are available to both traditional and non-traditional students.
Criteria
- Must be a student within the 32 counties of Appalachian Ohio pursuing or beginning pursuit of study in the field of science, technology, engineering or mathematics;
- Priority will be given to those with a specific focus of metallurgy;
- Overall academic achievement, with a particular emphasis on high achievement and career interest in STEM fields, with a future commitment to work in Ohio;
- Demonstrated financial need.
Award Amount
Scholarship awards and amounts will vary, depending on availability of funds. Scholarship awards are made payable directly to the institution of enrollment on the student’s behalf, for the purposes and expenses associated with tuition, fees, textbooks, and required supplies and equipment.
Application Period
Applications are accepted Feb 15 through March 15.
