Jimmy Wood Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Jimmy Wood Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by Lonnie and Judy Wood to celebrate the life and legacy of their son, Jimmy Wood, who tragically passed away after a car accident at the age of 16 in 1993. The Fund provides scholarship awards to graduates of New Lexington High School (NLHS), which Jimmy attended.

While at New Lexington High School, Jimmy was a member of the wrestling team, the Boots and Saddle 4-H Club, and the Perr

y County OHC Horse Club. He enjoyed hunting, riding four wheelers, and riding horses.

The fund in Jimmy’s name will provide educational scholarships for graduating seniors of NLHS who have attended the high school for at least three years, and meet the following qualifications:

  • Must be a full-time resident of New Lexington, Ohio;
  • Must complete all requirements for graduation at NLHS and be entering a one to four year post-high-school institution either planning to live on campus or commuting;
  • Must have been active for at least three years in two of the following activities: FFA, Sports, or 4-H; and
  • Not already receiving a full scholarship for tuition, room, and board.
