Home National Bank Invests in Meigs County

$25,000 Gift and Match Support Meigs County Community Fund’s
Endow 200 Campaign

President of Home National Bank, John Hoback (right of center), presents the Meigs County Community Fund committee with $25,000 to create opportunities for Meigs County residents.

Pomeroy, OH The Meigs County Community Fund (MCCF) at the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO) is pleased to announce that Home National Bank recently presented the MCCF with a $25,000 gift for its Endow 200 campaign. That $25,000 was matched dollar-for-dollar by an opportunity available to FAO community funds, meaning a total gift of $50,000 will be invested to support Meigs County projects, communities, and organizations for generations.

The Endow 200 campaign was launched to celebrate Meigs County’s 200th birthday. The campaign invites anyone who holds Meigs County close to their heart to give a gift of $3,000 or more, payable over five years. In this way, the MCCF hopes to build $1 million in endowment, which will grow over time to allow MCCF to make grants of approximately $40,000 each and every year far into the future.

“This gift from the Home National Bank will make a big difference for the people of Meigs County,” said Jennifer Sheets, president of the Meigs County Community Fund. “Hopefully the gift also demonstrates the power of the current match opportunity through FAO, which for a limited time can help anyone make double the difference for Meigs County.”

Thanks to matching funds awarded to FAO by the Ohio legislature, $300,000 in matching funds is now available to Meigs County, which could mean an additional $600,000 creating opportunities for Meigs County’s people and communities – a major step toward the Endow 200 campaign’s ultimate goal of $1 million.

The dollar-for-dollar match opportunity is available to donors while the $300,000 in match lasts and until May 31, 2020. If Meigs County doesn’t secure the $300,000 by this date, the match dollars will become available to other communities.

Gifts to the Meigs County Community and the Endow 200 campaign are tax deductible and can be made in many ways, including cash, bequests, and life insurance. Donations can be made online at www.AppalachianOhio.org by designating the fund when donating. To mail your donation, please designate the fund and mail to the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio, PO Box 456, Nelsonville, OH 45764.
