Grant funding available for projects that use internet connectivity to improve quality of life

Coshocton County applications due by May 2

COSHOCTON, Ohio The Coshocton County Connectivity Fund, part of the Ohio Connectivity Family of Funds at the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO), will accept grant applications from nonprofit and public organizations for projects that use internet connectivity to improve quality of life in Coshocton County.

In 2022, Ohio Transparent Telecom (OhioTT) created a Connectivity Fund through FAO in both Coshocton and Perry counties as part of its commitment to the rural Ohio communities it serves. At least $10,000 will be awarded to organizations in each county to address challenges and gaps community members face. Grant applications open March 21, 2023, and are due May 2, 2023. Grantees will be announced later in May.

“We take pride in acting as a catalyst for this program. More than ever, economic development opportunities are not possible without connectivity,” said Megan Kvamme, executive chairperson of OhioTT. “As we continue to invest, we hope others will join us in expanding the funds’ ability to benefit the communities we operate in. Our goal is to enable residents and small businesses to leverage broadband technology, enhancing their access to everyday opportunities and improving the lives of as many people as possible.”

Grant applicants are encouraged to submit creative and innovative projects that use internet connectivity to improve quality of life across FAO’s Pillars of Prosperity: arts and culture, community and economic development, education, environmental stewardship, and health and human services.

Potential use of funds might include technology that supports educational programs that elevate digital literacy, reduces social isolation among senior citizens, leverages telehealth to increase access to care, preserves and shares local history, improves access to the arts, or advances new economic opportunities.

“We are so excited about expanding our partnership with OhioTT and believe greatly in adding this fund to FAO’s mission,” said Cara Dingus Brook, FAO president and CEO.
