About the fund
The Gary G. Lee Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2018, pursuant to the wishes of the late Gary G. Lee. Gary was a lifelong resident of Bedford Township and chose to provide a lasting gift to the students of Bedford Township and their families in his last will and testament.
Gary graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1954, before serving his country in the United States Army until 1960. He made a career in construction and was a longtime member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers.
Gary understood the importance of higher education as his mother was a lifelong educator. Affectionally known as the “Mayor of Darwin,” Gary was a fixture in his community; he cared for his extended family and the families in the Bedford community. His posthumous gift to the township in support of higher education will improve the quality of life for these students and their families for generations to come.
This fund is a member of Meigs County Foundation’s family of funds.
