The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio is a regional community foundation serving Appalachian Ohio’s 32 counties with the mission to create opportunities for Appalachian Ohio’s citizens and communities by inspiring and supporting philanthropy.

Since 1998, the Foundation has been working with donors who are passionate about Appalachian Ohio, its communities, and its future. We’re here to help donors give back in ways that are meaningful – to them and to our region.

What is a community foundation?

Community foundations are public charities with a common purpose—to improve the quality of life in their region. Through gifts of all sizes from people who care about that region, community foundations invest these charitable funds in perpetuity so the income can be used as grants to invest in the community forever.

In short, a community foundation helps donors give to the charitable causes they care about, work together to accomplish a shared vision, and better understand the needs in their region.
