Guernsey County Education Assistance Grant Fund
The Guernsey County Education Assistance Grant Fund began as Dollars for Scholars, a well-known and loved scholarship for Guernsey County students. Though the name has changed, the mission behind it has not. Created in 1967, the Fund supports students who are residents of Guernsey County at the time of their graduation or those with an equivalent degree and 10 years of residency in the county.
The fund provides educational scholarships to graduates of area high schools who are residents of Guernsey County and accepted into and/or attend accredited programs providing training and certification in various trades and fields of vocational interest, associate degree programs and four-year institutions of higher learning. Current high schools include Cambridge, Meadowbrook, Buckeye Trail, Newcomerstown, John Glenn, Bishop Rosecrans, Mid-East CTC, Zanesville and Buffalo, home-schooled students, or a graduate of the Guernsey County ABLE/GED Center with an Ohio High School Equivalence diploma and minimum 10-year Guernsey County resident.
The Guernsey County Education Assistance Grant Fund scholarships are available for four years and can be used non-consecutively for varied educational pursuits, including technical schools and graduate schools. Guernsey County citizens who may be returning to school years after completing their high school degrees can also make use of the scholarships.
