Nearly $300,000 awarded across Gallia, Highland, Hocking, Jackson, Meigs, Morgan and Perry counties
NELSONVILLE, Ohio – Seven of the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio’s affiliate foundation partners have awarded a combined $294,477 during their 2026 grant rounds to advance projects and programs benefiting their communities.
FAO’s geographic affiliates in Gallia, Highland, Hocking, Jackson, Meigs, Morgan and Perry counties invited nonprofit and public organizations serving their communities to apply for grants to advance opportunities across five funding areas: arts and culture, community and economic development, education, environmental stewardship, and health and human services. Emphasis is on supporting individuals of all ages who are spearheading projects and programs that create opportunities, meet pressing needs and unleash the potential within Appalachian Ohio communities.
A total of 100 grants were awarded:
- The Gallia County Foundation awarded more than $20,000 across 14 grants.
- The Highland County Community Fund awarded more than $14,000 across nine grants.
- The Hocking County Community Fund awarded nearly $35,000 across 13 grants.
- The Jackson County Community Foundation awarded nearly $27,000 across 12 grants.
- The Meigs County Foundation awarded more than $92,000 across 18 grants.
- The Morgan Community Fund awarded nearly $48,000 across 13 grants.
- The Community Foundation for Perry County awarded nearly $58,000 across 21 grants.
Each affiliate foundation’s annual grantmaking is made possible by gifts to their endowment funds, which are designed to provide continuous investment in their communities. Gifts to their endowment funds are invested. The earnings generated from those investments fund their annual grant rounds, providing resources to meet today’s needs while preserving the fund to serve their communities for generations to come.
Grant applications for FAO’s seven other geographic affiliates – serving Guernsey, Harrison, Lawrence, Monroe, Noble and Vinton counties as well as the Nelsonville area – close on Sept. 8. The regionwide African American Community Fund announced its 2026 grant recipients earlier this year.
In 2025, FAO’s 15 affiliate foundation partners awarded more than $627,000 during their annual grant rounds.
