More than $737,000 in scholarships awarded

NELSONVILLE, Ohio – More than 300 students across Appalachian Ohio are starting or continuing their educational and career journeys with the support of donors who are investing in their future success.

This year, the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO), its affiliate foundations and funding partners have awarded more than $737,000 in donor-established postsecondary scholarships. Overall, 309 students from 26 Appalachian Ohio counties have received 642 individual scholarships to support their studies at an institution of higher education or through vocational programs.

FAO supports more than 320 scholarship funds established through gifts from residents and friends of Appalachian Ohio who recognize the role education plays in ensuring the region’s people and communities can flourish. Since 2004, more than 5,500 scholarships have been awarded through FAO.
