CAMBRIDGE, Ohio – The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO) and the Guernsey County Foundation announce the 2025 Myron Fishel Scholarship recipients.
Dr. Waite Phillip Fishel, a former chemistry professor at Vanderbilt University, created the Myron Fishel Scholarship Fund in 1974 to honor the memory of his only son, Myron, who was killed in action during World War II. The Myron Fishel Scholarship Fund, which joined the Guernsey County Foundation’s family of funds at FAO in 2016, provides support to Guernsey County students pursuing postsecondary studies at accredited institutions in Ohio.
The 2025 Myron Fishel Scholarship recipients are:
- Carson Campbell of Cambridge, a 2025 Cambridge High School graduate, who plans to attend Kent State University
- Alexx Combs of Senecaville, a 2025 Meadowbrook High School graduate, who plans to attend Muskingum University
- Emma Davis of Cumberland, a 2025 Meadowbrook High School graduate, who plans to attend the University of Mount Union
- Travis Dodd of Lore City, a 2025 Buckeye Trail High School graduate, who plans to attend Ohio University
- Brynn Eubanks of Cambridge, a 2025 Cambridge High School graduate, who plans to attend Muskingum University
- Dylan Fortney of Cambridge, a 2025 John Glenn High School graduate, who plans to attend Ohio University
- Layken Lasko of Senecaville, a 2025 Meadowbrook High School graduate, who plans to attend Ohio University Zanesville
- Ty Reed of Cambridge, a 2023 Cambridge High School graduate, who attends Ohio University
- Grace Shipe of Freeport, a 2024 Buckeye Trail High School graduate, who attends Ohio University Eastern
- Caleb Stanberry of Cambridge, a 2024 Cambridge High School graduate, who attends Kent State University
- Marabelle Thornberry of Senecaville, a 2025 Meadowbrook High School graduate, who plans to attend Ohio Northern University
- Addisyn Wiggins of Pleasant City, a 2025 Meadowbrook High School graduate, who plans to attend Ohio University
- Kallie Yerian of Byesville, a 2025 Meadowbrook High School graduate, who plans to attend Preston’s Beauty Academy
- Emma Yurco of Lore City, a 2025 Meadowbrook High School graduate, who plans to attend the University of Akron
Each year, FAO partners with donors, volunteers and its affiliate foundations, including the Guernsey County Foundation, to award scholarships through a competitive application process to students across the 32 counties of Appalachian Ohio.
