More than $41,000 awarded through the Logan-Holl Foundation Fund

LOGAN, Ohio – The Logan-Holl Foundation Fund at the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO) has awarded 14 grants, totaling more than $41,000, to projects benefiting the people of the city of Logan and Hocking County.

“The motto of Barton A. Holl, who founded the Logan-Holl Foundation, was: ‘Money is only as good as the good it can do,’” said Rudy Brandt, secretary-treasurer of the Logan-Holl Foundation Fund Board of Trustees. “It is our hope that this money will do so much good that its impact will be felt for generations to come and inspire others to do good with the resources they have.”

Grants were awarded to:

  • Bishop Educational Gardens to help fund local musicians for the 2024 Lilyfest.
  • Brighten Your Future to provide last-dollar scholarships to Logan High School graduates.
  • First Presbyterian Church to purchase food for its food pantry.
  • Hocking Athens Perry Community Action to purchase food for the on-site distributions at the Southeast Ohio Foodbank in Logan.
  • Health Recovery Services to support its Community Reinforcement and Family Training, a 12-week educational and healing program for local families affected by substance use.
  • Hocking County Children’s Chorus to support its 2025 musical theater production.
  • Hocking County EMS to purchase two automatic external defibrillators to expand its “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” program in eastern Hocking County.
  • Hocking Hills Children’s Museum to help offset the cost of offering reduced-price admission fees to local families receiving food benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program as part of the Museums for All program.
  • Hocking Hills Inspire Shelter to fund the replacement of mattresses and wardrobe lockers used by clients experiencing homelessness.
  • inspiHER Girls Leadership Foundation to help purchase materials for the 2024 inspiHER Girls Leadership Retreat at Logan-Hocking Middle School.
  • Logan High School to purchase food, clothing, school supplies and toiletries for the Chieftain Closet, the school-based pantry.
  • Project Safe, the Logan-Hocking School District’s before- and after-school program serving K-8 students, to purchase food for its food pantry.
  • Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio to help cover the costs of overnight stays at the Ronald McDonald House for Hocking County families.
  • Summer Children’s Arts Experience, held at The Bowen House, to support the program whose classes use the arts as a means of learning about another country and culture.

Barton A. Holl, industrialist and community leader, founded the Logan-Holl Foundation in 1968 to continue his legacy of funding projects that benefit the people of Logan and Hocking County. The Logan-Holl Foundation Fund joined FAO in 2021 and is part of the Hocking County Community Fund’s family of funds.

The next Logan-Holl Foundation Fund grant round will open in early 2025.
