FAO match results in $10,000 investment to benefit county’s residents and communities

McCONNELSVILLE, Ohio – Citizens National Bank of McConnelsville has committed a total of $5,000 over the next five years to the Morgan Community Fund, establishing a fund that will support grants awarded annually to projects and programs that benefit Morgan County.

Through its gift, the bank is creating the Citizens National Bank Fund for Morgan County, a permanent investment that will help meet immediate needs and seize the most promising opportunities for Morgan County residents and communities. The bank’s gift is being matched dollar-for-dollar by the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO).

“For more than 135 years, we have been proud to serve Morgan County, to support local, and to give where we live,” said Matt Carpenter, president of Citizens National Bank of McConnelsville. “Our investment in the Morgan Community Fund is an investment in the people who call Morgan County home today and for generations to come and in the future of our communities.”

A local affiliate of FAO, the Morgan Community Fund was established in 2008 by local residents to grow charitable giving that makes a direct and lasting impact for Morgan County. Earnings from charitable giving are reinvested in the county through grants focused on five areas essential to creating transformative and sustainable change: arts and culture, community and economic development, education, environmental stewardship, and health and human services.

“We are grateful and honored to be partnering with Citizens National Bank of McConnelsville to build a brighter future for Morgan County,” said Tyler Hickerson, co-chair of the Morgan Community Fund. “Through this gift, the bank is building on a long-standing commitment to its hometown and establishing a source of funding that will make an everlasting difference in hometowns across our county.”
