Unique Partnership Results in Additional Scholarship Dollars for Students
Byesville, OH – The recent Academic Awards Ceremony at Meadowbrook High School celebrated the success and hard work of Meadowbrook students and the scholarships awarded to students in recognition of their efforts and accomplishments. The ceremony also announced the creation of a new fund that will make existing scholarship funds and awards go even further.
The Rolling Hills Foundation Scholarship Fund was established with an initial gift from the Stemmer Family Foundation, and supports a unique partnership between the Rolling Hills Local School District and scholarship funds open only to Meadowbrook High School students, to increase the scholarship award amount students receive.
“Last year, we left the Meadowbrook High School awards ceremony wondering what we could do to recognize and honor the legacies of those who originally established these scholarships,” said Tom Stemmer of the Rolling Hills Foundation Scholarship Fund. “What resulted from us answering that question is the Rolling Hills Foundation Scholarship Fund. This fund will allow us to continue to recognize and honor the original scholarship sponsors, while helping the seniors who received those scholarships.”
In 2018, 14 scholarship awards received matching dollars totaling an additional $7,200 in scholarship dollars for Meadowbrook High School graduates, including:
-
- Byesville Alumni Scholarship
- Byesville Rotary Scholarship
- Cambridge Packaging Scholarship
- Bill Dowler Scholarship
- Clifton and Marie Downs Scholarship
- Varsity M Gridiron Scholarship
- C.R. McMullen Memorial Scholarship
- Meadowbrook Athletic Boosters Scholarship
- Eileen Monroe Faculty Scholarship
- OAPSE Scholarship
- RHEA Christa McAuliffe Scholarship
- Bessie M. Sarchet Scholarship
- Winnie Mae Sharpe Scholarship
- Kiristi Singleton Scholarship
Each year, Meadowbrook High School students will work to grow funds for the Fund, and it is the hope for others to join in this partnership as well. Gifts to the Rolling Hills Foundation Scholarship Fund are tax deductible and can be made in a number of ways, including cash, gifts in wills, and life insurance. To make a donation, please designate the Rolling Hills Foundation Scholarship Fund and mail to the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio, PO Box 456, Nelsonville, OH 45764.
