New Fund Will Enable Long-Term
Community Change through the United Way

Cambridge, OHThe United Way of Guernsey, Monroe, and Noble Counties has served the community for more than 70 years. The creation of a new endowment fund at the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO) will support the mission of the United Way for another 70 years and beyond.

The United Way of Guernsey, Monroe, and Noble Endowment Fund is designed to support the United Way’s mission to lead the community’s efforts in improving the quality of life for those in need, by focusing on education, health, and financial stability, using locally raised money to help people living in Guernsey, Monroe, and Noble counties.

“The United Way of Guernsey, Monroe, and Noble Counties was founded on the idea of helping those in need by providing help where the need is greatest, focusing on the areas of education, health, and financial stability,” said Stephanie Laube, executive director of the United Way of Guernsey, Monroe, and Noble Counties. “Our volunteers and donors make this work possible today and the creation of an endowment fund will help their many gifts reach generations through the United Way.”

Working with many partners, United Way continually looks for the most effective ways to help people gain access to educational, economic, and health-related opportunities. Education, financial stability, and health are the building blocks for a successful life. Education is essential to getting and keeping a job with a livable wage and health benefits. An income adequate to pay for today’s necessities and save for the future provides families some sense of financial stability. Access to quality health care keeps children on track in school and adults productive at work. Remove any one of these building blocks and the other two topple.

Nonprofit endowment funds like the United Way of Guernsey, Monroe, and Noble Endowment Fund create a permanent source of support for a nonprofit’s programs and services forever. By investing dollars permanently, the nonprofit can use the interest and earnings of the fund to support its mission and its programs that combat poverty, support the education of youth in the surrounding community, and aid in times of sudden and unexpected disaster now and in the future.

The United Way of Guernsey, Monroe, and Noble Endowment Fund is a member of the Guernsey County Foundation’s Family of Funds. FAO is proud to work locally with the Guernsey County Foundation to create funds that support the Guernsey County community and its local nonprofits like the United Way.
