Mini-Grant Applications Available through January 23 to Tax-Exempt Organizations Serving Perry County

New Lexington, OH – The Community Foundation for Perry County (CFPC) is pleased to announce its request for mini-grant proposals. CFPC invites tax-exempt organizations committed to increasing quality of life, creating access to opportunities, or implementing a solution for a need in the Perry County community to apply.

“CFPC is eager to once again extend a mini-grant opportunity to Perry County organizations,” said Kevin Wood, a CFPC committee member. “CFPC is dedicated to ensuring that resources benefit Perry County citizens and communities forever and this mini-grant opportunity is one way to achieve that goal.”

For this grant round, $5,000 in funding is available for projects across five areas CFPC calls the Pillars of Prosperity. Projects should focus on one or more of these five areas essential to improving quality of life in Perry County – arts and culture, community and economic development, education, environmental stewardship, and health and human services. Up to ten mini-grants will be awarded, ideally across each of the five Pillars. Grants will range in size from $500 to $1,000. At this time, CFPC does not accept applications for any event sponsorships or sports-related requests.

Applications will be accepted from December 12, 2017 to January 23, 2018. To receive full consideration for funding, grant requests must include a completed application and a 501(c)(3) IRS determination letter. Applications are available online at www.AppalachianOhio.org/CFPC and must be postmarked by January 16, 2018 and mailed to PO Box 456, Nelsonville, Ohio 45764. Grant recipients will be notified by March 15, 2018 and all grantees will be required to submit a final report at the conclusion of the project.

Past grant recipients have included the Rendville Historic Preservation Society; the Perry County Cultural Arts Center; the Perry County Historical & Cultural Arts Society; the Perry Count Community Kitchen and Farmers Pantry; Sheridan High School; Roseville Elementary School; Rural Action; and New Lexington City Schools.

The Community Foundation for Perry County was established in 2012 to ensure permanent support for the citizens and communities of Perry County. A community fund of the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO), CFPC works with FAO to grow grantmaking dollars for projects that improve quality of life in Perry County and across Appalachian Ohio through the Pillars of Prosperity.

CFPC is able to provide this and previous grant rounds thanks to the generous contributions of existing donors. CFPC launched its Endow 200 campaign in 2016 to grow the amount of grantmaking from $5,000 to $50,000 annually, but CFPC needs your help to make that a reality. Next year marks the 200th anniversary of Perry County. By meeting its goal of raising $5,000 from 200 donors before the end of 2018, CFPC will be able to fund additional projects throughout the county as early as 2019.
