Scholarship Fund Supports Legion Baseball Players’ Pursuit of Post-Secondary Education
Cambridge, OH – Don Coss was Guernsey County’s “Mr. Baseball” and his commitment to his players extended far outside the foul lines of a baseball field. Following his passing, the Don Coss Memorial Scholarship Fund was created through a gift in his will to honor Don’s legacy while also supporting Post 84 Cambridge American Legion baseball team members as they pursue their post-secondary education.
This year, ten American Legion Post 84 players received scholarships. 2017 scholarship recipients include:
- Garth Charlton is a 2017 graduate of Cambridge High School and plans to attend Ohio Valley University to study exercise science;
- Matthew Gibson is a 2017 graduate of John Glenn High School and plans to attend Otterbein University to study business;
- Russell Hayhurst is a graduate of Cambridge High School and is studying special education at Wittenberg University;
- Caleb Heller is a second-year student at Muskingum University where he studies athletic training;
