Scholarships Available for University and Technical School Programs
Lore City, OH – Loran and Shirley Stutz witnessed firsthand the difference education from the East Guernsey Local School District has on the lives of students, specifically those of their four children. Empowered by their K-12 education, their children have gone on to lead successful lives made possible by their education. In gratitude, Loran and Shirley established a scholarship that will benefit students in the East Guernsey Local School District.
The new Loran and Shirley Stutz Scholarship Fund, part of the Guernsey County Foundation’s Family of Funds at the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO), will support graduating seniors pursuing post-secondary education. Eligible applicants include graduating seniors attending public, private, or parochial schools, as well as homeschooled students, residing in the East Guernsey Local School District.
“We understand the importance of continued education beyond high school as well as the financial challenges that accompany it,” said Shirley Stutz. “We are grateful for the education our children received here in East Guernsey and appreciative of what they gained through post-secondary education. We want to help other local students make the most of their education as well through this scholarship.”
Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA or higher and must demonstrate a strong work ethic through outstanding character, academic excellence, involvement with extra-curricular activities, or work experience. Applicants must be pursuing post-secondary education at an accredited four-year, two-year, or trade/technical institution or program. In 2017, two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded.
