Grant from the Statoil Monroe County Energy Fund Will Bring
COSI On Wheels to Schools in January

Woodsfield, OH – Switzerland of Ohio Local School District elementary school students will be able to experience COSI On Wheels during the 2016-2017 school year thanks to a grant from the Statoil Monroe County Energy Fund.

“Statoil is committed to investing in STEM education and to furthering the future opportunities of young people here in Monroe County,” said Clint Long, Regional Manager, Marcellus Operations at Statoil. “We are delighted to bring COSI on Wheels to the region, and for all elementary school students in Switzerland of Ohio School District to have this hands-on, interactive learning experience.”

COSI On Wheels brings the experience of COSI (Center of Science and Industry) in Columbus directly to students in their schools and local communities. COSI aims to enhance young people’s curiosity in science, while encouraging continued learning. The program introduces dynamic science topics to the entire school through a 45-minute assembly followed by hands-on activities with each grade level during the rest of the school day. COSI On Wheels will be in Switzerland of Ohio elementary schools in January 2017.

“We know that students are more engaged in learning when they do things first-hand,” said Zac Housley, Switzerland of Ohio Local School District Curriculum Director. “COSI On Wheels will give all of our elementary school students an opportunity to experiment, test, and learn science in new ways with lessons that correspond to state standards and what they are learning in the classroom.”
