Nelsonville, OH
With a $1,000 grant from the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO), Barnesville teachers will have much-needed support for preparing their students for STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) classes and careers.

“Our work at the Foundation is to create opportunities across Appalachian Ohio and within its communities,” said Cara Dingus Brook, president and CEO of FAO. “We are excited by what this grant can do to help Barnesville teachers open their students’ eyes to the possibilities in STEM.”

FAO awarded a $1,000 grant to support the Barnesville Exempted Village School District’s implementation of Project Lead the Way. The award will offset implementation costs for Project Lead the Way, specifically supporting professional development for teachers and related classroom materials. Project Lead the Way is a national program focused on STEM education to encourage and expose students to engineering projects and related careers.

The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio’s mission is to create opportunities for Appalachian Ohio’s citizens and communities by inspiring and supporting philanthropy.
