Raccoon Creek Partnership & Friends of Strouds Run State Park Receive Grants

Nelsonville, OH – As part of it work to carry out Ora Anderson’s vision of preserving and enhancing the natural beauty of this region, the Ora E. Anderson Conservation Fund has awarded two grants totaling over $6,700 for conservation efforts taking place in Athens County.

The Raccoon Creek Partnership received a $4,400 grant to support its mission of conservation, stewardship, and restoration for a healthier stream and community. The funds will allow the organization to purchase chemical water quality equipment, biological water quality monitoring equipment, signage for access points along the water trail, and kayaks for public floats and stream cleanup efforts.

The Friends of Strouds Run State Park received a $2,360 grant to conduct water quality sampling of Dow Lake and the streams that feed into the lake over the next 2 years. The organization is working to establish baseline statistics of water quality in this system.
