As part of the Ohio Board of Regent’s southeast Ohio STEM Initiative planning grant, the  Foundation for Appalachian Ohio co-hosted three meetings for educators this summer in partnership with the Ohio Appalachian Center for Higher Education (OACHE) and the South East Ohio Center for Excellence in Mathematics and Science (SEOCEMS).

These sub-regional educator meetings will be a crucial moment for educators to contribute to an investment strategy and plan for our students, schools and communities through  a discussion on the opportunities and barriers existing around STEM education in Appalachian Ohio and to assist us in refining a shared vision of STEM for the region.

Meetings were held:

Thursday, August 5

University of Cincinnati – Clermont College, Batavia, OH

Wednesday, August 11

Kent State University at Tuscarawas, New Philadelphia, OH

Wednesday, August 18

Washington State Community College, Marietta, OH

Appalachian Ohio is facing a once in a generation opportunity to bring business, education and philanthropy together in support of our region, its students and their shared future by collaboratively building a network to ensure the region’s students are equipped with the 21st century skills necessary for success in a global workplace.
