Educational Seminarfor Professional Advisors

(April 21) Nashport, OhioThe Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO) will host an educational eventfor professional advisors at the Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport onWednesday, May 7. The seminar will focus on helping clients achieve theircharitable goals and will provide continuing education credits for attorneys,accountants, insurance agents, bankers and financial planners.

All financial and professional advisors are welcome toattend this event, which will update participants about the differences betweencommunity and private foundations, cover the current developments in laws thatimpact charities and donors, and provide an overview of IRSrequirements.

“Through this event, we hope to increase awareness of thecharitable tools that exist for people who want to invest in this region,” saidCara Dingus Brook, president & CEO of FAO.“In addition to updates on new legislative developments impacting charitableplanning, advisors who attend this event will learn about a variety of localresources and some innovative approaches to community philanthropy developinghere in Appalachian Ohio.”

Sponsored in part by the Ohio State University Extension andMuskingum College,this seminar will be presented by John Furniss and Gordon Litt, with Columbuslaw firm Bickler & Eckler, LLP, as well as Maribeth Wright, CPA andshareholder of Rea & Associates in Cambridgeand the president of the Guernsey County Foundation. Included will be a casestudy of the innovative approach donors and donor advisors have taken to growcommunity philanthropy in Guernsey County, Ohio.

In addition to learning more about charitable givingoptions, attendees will have time to network with other professionals in theirfields during a continental breakfast and lunch, included in the registrationfee. The event will conclude by 3 p.m.,so all who are interested can sign up for a round of golf on the Longabergercourse when registering for the event.
