The Pickering House, a home-like hospice patient care facility by FairHope Hospice and Palliative Care Inc. in Lancaster, Ohio, celebrated its grand opening on Thursday, February 15, 2007.

The House will feature 12 patient rooms, a family lounge and parlor, kitchenette, two three-season porches, a chapel, great room and office space. Although hospice patients are generally treated in their homes, patients may need to be admitted to the center for short-term pain and symptom management, respite or imminent death. The center also may act as a temporary location to allow time for care-giving arrangements to be made for patients.

FairHope Hospice holds an endowed fund, the Hocking Area End of Life Fund, with the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio to support their services in perpetuity. Contributions can be made through the Foundation, which stewards and manages the fund.
