The Ohio Commodores Scholarship Fund

The Ohio Commodores have established a new nonprofit organization, The Ohio Commodores Scholarship Fund, which is certified by the Ohio Attorney General as a Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO).

The Ohio Commodores Scholarship Fund will award academic scholarships to students across Ohio attending primary and secondary schools (K-12), giving priority to students with the greatest financial need.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Because The Ohio Commodores Scholarship Fund is a certified SGO, you can make a no-cost gift to support our work to provide scholarship awards to students across Ohio at no cost to you.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The State of Ohio established a Tax Credit Scholarship Program, through which individuals can receive a tax credit (not a tax deduction) against their Ohio income tax liability for gifts to a Scholarship Granting Organization, such as The Ohio Commodores Scholarship Fund.

The maximum amount an individual can contribute and receive a dollar-for-dollar credit is $750. If you are filing jointly with your spouse, you can contribute up to $1,500. To be eligible for a 2023 tax credit, your gift must be received or postmarked before you file your 2023 Ohio tax return (assuming your return is filed by midnight, April 15, 2024).
