Cambridge, OH – Graduating Guernsey County students from Buckeye Trail High School and residing in Quaker City have an opportunity to obtain a scholarship in pursuit of higher education.

The Michael C. Long Legacy Scholarship Fund was established by his wife, Joanelle, and family in his memory. Mike grew up in Quaker City, Ohio, and was named “Most Likely to Succeed” in his 1966 Zane Trace Yearbook.  He worked summers for Valadium while attending The Ohio State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in 1971 and his master’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering in 1973. Mike spent his career in the automotive industry in Michigan and his true passions were coaching Little League, playing golf, traveling on family and friend vacations, and cheering on The O.S.U. Buckeyes.

To be eligible for this scholarship, the applicant must be graduating from Buckeye Trail High School and residing in Quaker City. A preference will be given to those who are attending The Ohio State University and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering.

The Michael C. Long Legacy Scholarship is a fund of the Guernsey County Foundation under the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO), a regional community foundation serving the 32 counties of Appalachian Ohio.
