Chippi Scholarship Fund Open to Education Majors

Cambridge, OH – Graduating Guernsey County high school students have an opportunity to obtain a scholarship to pursue post-secondary studies in education.

The late Charles “Chuck” Chippi established the Charles E. Chippi Scholarship Fund through a designation in his will. A retired school administrator, Chippi served 42 years with several local school districts, including Rolling Hills, Cambridge, and Shenandoah.

Born and raised in Derwent, Ohio, Chuck was a 1953 graduate of Valley Local High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from Ohio University and later earned his Master’s in Education degree from West Virginia University. Chuck was a member of the St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, the Ohio Teachers Association, Atwood Bass Anglers, Rolling Hills Hall of Fame, and the Buffalo Alumni Hall of Fame. He also volunteered his time and talents at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center and was on the board of the Guernsey County Senior Center.

Education was Chuck’s passion, besides fishing, and he wished to establish a legacy gift of a scholarship to express his belief in the importance of a good education. To be eligible for the Charles E. Chippi Scholarship, an applicant must be graduating from a Guernsey County high school and pursuing a post-secondary degree in education.

The Charles E. Chippi Scholarship is a fund of the Guernsey County Foundation under the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO), a regional community foundation serving the 32 counties of Appalachian Ohio.
