Funding available for nonprofit and public organizations serving the Nelsonville area
NELSONVILLE, Ohio – The Nelsonville Community Foundation, in partnership with the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO) and the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation, is accepting grant applications for projects and programs benefiting Nelsonville and the surrounding communities of Buchtel, Carbon Hill and Murray City.
The 2025 application period for grant funding opens July 29 and closes Sept. 9. Nonprofits, schools and public organizations serving the Nelsonville area are eligible to apply.
The Nelsonville Community Foundation will award grants that advance opportunities across five funding areas: arts and culture, community and economic development, education, environmental stewardship, and health and human services. Emphasis is on supporting individuals of all ages who are spearheading projects and programs that create opportunities, meet pressing needs and unleash the potential within Nelsonville and the surrounding communities.
Funding requests should be between $500 and $5,000, but larger requests may be considered based on potential impact. Additional information and the 2025 grant application are available at www.AppalachianOhio.org/Nelsonville/Grant-Opportunities.
Each year, earnings from charitable giving to the Nelsonville Community Foundation’s endowment fund are reinvested in the Nelsonville area through grants that meet the communities’ greatest needs and most promising opportunities. In 2024, the Nelsonville Community Foundation, one of FAO’s 15 affiliate foundation partners, awarded 18 grants totaling more than $48,000 to organizations serving the Nelsonville area.
