FAO matching funds result in $50,000 that will be invested in Gallia County residents, communities

GALLIPOLIS, Ohio – Ohio Valley Bank has committed $25,000 to the Gallia Community Foundation, bringing two community-based and community-serving organizations together in support of Gallia County residents and communities.

The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO), with support from the Governor and Ohio Legislature, is matching Ohio Valley Bank’s donation dollar-for-dollar, resulting in $50,000 in funding that will be invested to benefit Gallia County today and for generations to come.

“Through our Community First mission, Ohio Valley Bank is dedicated to supporting the areas we serve,” said Tom Wiseman, chairman of the board of Ohio Valley Bank. “This mission is closely aligned with what the Gallia Community Foundation is working to accomplish: enriching the community, improving the standard of living, and preserving the unique culture of the community.”

A local affiliate of FAO, the Gallia Community Foundation was established in 2011 by area residents to grow charitable giving that fills immediate needs and seizes the most promising opportunities for the people in Gallia County now and into the future. Earnings from donations are reinvested in the county through grants that advance organizations, programs, and projects focused on five areas essential to creating transformative and sustainable change: arts and culture, community and economic development, education, environmental stewardship, and health and human services.

“We cannot begin to thank Ohio Valley Bank for their continued support of not only the Gallia Community Foundation but every other organization in our community trying to make this place we call home just a little bit better,” said Nick Roach, Gallia Community Foundation committee member. “It is the Gallia Community Foundation’s mission, along with the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio, to continue to invest in our Pillars of Prosperity and foster a community abundant with possibilities. This would not be possible without the partnership of OVB and so many others.”
