Nearly $15,000 in funding to support nonprofit and public projects, programs
GALLIPOLIS, Ohio – The Gallia Community Foundation (GCF) has awarded five grants, totaling nearly $15,000, to advance projects and programs serving individuals throughout Gallia County.
“This funding will not only create opportunities and enhance our communities today, but its impact will be felt for years to come,” said Olivia Rees, GCF committee member. “It brings us great joy to partner with leaders in our communities, champions of Gallia County and generous donors to address local needs and seize opportunities for our residents and our future prosperity.”
Earlier this year, GCF, in partnership with the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio and FAO’s I’m a Child of Appalachia® Fund, invited nonprofit and public organizations to apply for grants for projects and programs benefiting Gallia County residents. Preference was given to efforts that increase quality of life, create access to opportunities or implement a solution to a local need.
Five grants were awarded during the 2022 funding cycle:
· Easterseals Central and Southeast Ohio to help enroll additional Gallia County children in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio.
· Economic and Community Development Institute to support the Women’s Business Center of Central Appalachia’s Lunch-and-Learn series and its forthcoming Dinner-and-Development series.
· Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland Council for its Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
· God’s Hands At Work for its mobile food pantry.
· John Gee Black Historical Center to initiate a bathroom remodel project.
Donations to the Gallia Community Foundation help fund these annual grants that meet communities’ greatest needs and most promising opportunities. Thanks to a partnership with FAO’s I’m a Child of Appalachia® Fund, dollar-for-dollar matches are currently available for gifts to GCF.
