More than $36,000 awarded to support projects, programs benefiting Perry County

NEW LEXINGTON, Ohio – The Community Foundation for Perry County (CFPC), in partnership with the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO), has awarded 16 grants, totaling $36,286, to support projects and programs benefiting the county’s residents and communities.

“This funding reflects love and commitment for the people and communities of Perry County,” said Tony Fiore, CFPC president. “By combining the generosity of our donors and the good work of doers across our county, we are ensuring that everyone in Perry County can flourish.”

Nonprofits, schools and public organizations serving Perry County were invited to apply for grants to advance opportunities across five areas essential to flourishing communities: arts and culture, community and economic development, education, environmental stewardship, and health and human services. Emphasis is on supporting individuals of all ages who are spearheading projects and programs that create opportunities, meet pressing needs and unleash the collective potential within Perry County.

Grants were awarded to:

  • Capabilities Charitable Fund to provide mini grants to Perry County residents with disabilities to support or expand their employment or promote independence and integration in the community
  • FosterHub to provide resources, including housing and food, to Perry County youth aging out of the foster care system
  • Glenford Lions Club to help fund repairs to the walking trail, provide access to the ADA-compliant restroom facilities and install ADA-accessible parking on the club’s property adjacent to Glenford Elementary School
  • Habitat for Humanity of Southeast Ohio to fund home repairs for low-income seniors and individuals with disabilities in Perry County
  • Hocking-Athens-Perry Community Action to fund the repair, replacement and installation of stoves, refrigerators and hot water tanks for low-income Perry County residents
  • Ludowici Community Foundation to sponsor Perry County children enrolled in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio
  • Mount Aloysius Corp. to fund the purchase and installation of a pool lift, enabling individuals with disabilities to participate in aquatic activities and therapies
  • Northern Local School District Band Boosters to support the Generals Pride Walk – A Performance Patio project, a designated outdoor area for the band and other musical performances at Sheridan High School
  • The Ohio University Foundation to fund participation of Perry County youth in the Ohio University Diabetes Institute’s CAT Camp, a day camp for youth with Type 1 diabetes
  • Perry County Commissioners to purchase an automated external defibrillator and protective cabinet for the Perry County Fairgrounds
  • Perry County Job and Family Services to fund improvements to its outreach vehicle
  • Rendville Historic Preservation Society to repair the roof on the Little White House, the only remaining miner’s house on Rendville’s Main Street, and to purchase scaffolding to complete a window replacement project
  • Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio to help cover overnight stays for Perry County families
  • Rural Action to purchase a sewing machine and fabric bolts for bimonthly events hosted by the Somerset Builder’s Club’s fabric arts program
  • Somerset Artists’ Co-Op to support the 2025 Kids Creativity Camp
  • Southern Local School District to fund a Columbus Zoo education program at Millcreek Elementary School

CFPC, one of FAO’s 15 affiliate foundation partners, was established in 2012 to develop and grow permanent charitable resources that provide continuous investment in Perry County and its nonprofits, schools and communities.
