Nelsonville Community Foundation accepting applications through Sept. 10

NELSONVILLE, Ohio – The Nelsonville Community Foundation, in partnership with the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio and the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation, is accepting grant applications from nonprofits, schools and public organizations for projects and programs benefiting Nelsonville and the surrounding communities of Buchtel, Carbon Hill and Murray City.

The 2024 application period for grant funding opens July 30 and closes Sept. 10.

The Nelsonville Community Foundation will award grants that advance opportunities across five areas of need: arts and culture, community and economic development, education, environmental stewardship, and health and human services. Emphasis is on supporting individuals of all ages who are spearheading projects and programs that create opportunities, meet pressing needs and unleash the potential within Nelsonville and the surrounding communities.

Funding requests should be between $500 and $5,000, but larger requests may be considered based on potential impact. Additional information and the 2024 grant application are available at www.AppalachianOhio.org/Nelsonville.

Earnings from charitable giving to the Nelsonville Community Foundation are reinvested in Nelsonville and the surrounding communities through annual grants that meet the communities’ greatest needs and most promising opportunities. In 2023, the Nelsonville Community Foundation awarded 15 grants, totaling more than $23,000, to organizations serving the Nelsonville area.

This year, the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation will partner with the Nelsonville Community Foundation to award grants that benefit Nelsonville and surrounding communities. With a mission to improve the health and quality of life in the community through education, research and service consistent with its osteopathic heritage, the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation has a long history of serving Nelsonville and southeastern Ohio.

“The Foundation is proud to partner with the Nelsonville Community Foundation and its dedicated committee of volunteers,” said Osteopathic Heritage Foundation President/CEO Terri Donlin Huesman. “The Foundation is committed to the City of Nelsonville and surrounding communities, and we look forward to our funding partnership to address health and social issues in the community.” To learn more about the Nelsonville Community Foundation and how to support its work, visit www.AppalachianOhio.org/Nelsonville,email Nelsonville@ffao.org or call 740.753.1111.
