More than $700,000 in scholarships awarded to students across the region
CAMBRIDGE, Ohio – The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO) and the Guernsey County Foundation have awarded more than $700,000 in donor-established postsecondary scholarships to students across the 32-county region, including many students from Guernsey County.
Thirteen 2025 Cambridge High School graduates were awarded scholarships through the Cambridge City Schools Scholarship Foundation Fund:
- Reese Antill received the Achilles Nicholakis Scholarship and the Elizabeth Burgess Briggs Scholarship
- Anastasia Bergeson received the Bruce Orahoske Scholarship, the Ralph G. Ferguson Scholarship and the Whitney Proctor Scholarship
- Austin Bozarth received the John and Rose Dunlavy Scholarship and the Whitney Proctor Scholarship
- Zoey Caldwell received the Charles R. Nelson Scholarship and the Kathryn L. Duffey – Baker and Hostetler Scholarship
- Carson Campbell received the Tim McBride Memorial Scholarship and the Whitney Proctor Scholarship
- Kennedy Ellis received the Harvey and Edna Ferrier Scholarship and the Whitney Proctor Scholarship
- Claire Endly received the Erven Trust Fund Scholarship and the Russel B. Diehl Scholarship
- Brynn Eubanks received the Whitney Proctor Scholarship
- Carter Forshey received the Joe Mowad Memorial Scholarship
- Cinjin Gibson received the Gregory Cardamone Scholarship, the Isaac and Carey Esper Scholarship and the Tim McBride Memorial Scholarship
- Emersyn Jefferis received the Mary Moore Scholarship
- Konner McIntire received the Charles W. and Olive L. Hanna Scholarship
- Madison Peters received the Art Clemenson Scholarship and the Charles E. Jefferson Award Scholarship
Nicholas Norman and Kailin Potts received the AK Steel Foundation Scholarship, supporting students pursuing studies in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields with particular emphasis on metallurgy.
Anastasia Bergeson, Alexx Combs, Travis Dodd, Kailin Potts and Kallie Yerian received the Bob Evans and Wayne F. White Legacy Scholarship, honoring the legacy and commitment these two friends had to the Appalachian Ohio region.
Anastasia Bergeson and Brynn Eubanks received the Cambridge High School Class of ’57 Scholarship, supporting graduating seniors of Cambridge High School.
Mitchell George and Ethan Heady received the Charles E. Chippi Scholarship, supporting graduating Guernsey County high school seniors pursuing postsecondary studies in education.
The G.D. Agnew Foundation Scholarship provides support to Guernsey County students who attend an accredited two-year or four-year higher education institution or an accredited vocational program. The 2025 recipients are:

Natalie Long and Marabelle Thornberry are the inaugural recipients of the George and Mary Ellen Ontko Scholarship, supporting graduating seniors and graduates of Guernsey County high schools with priority given to students pursuing careers in education.
Madison Johnson is the inaugural recipient of the Jeanne Warne Frontz Memorial Scholarship, supporting female graduating seniors or graduates of Cambridge High School or past attendees of the school who have since received a high school equivalency or GED diploma. Priority is given to students studying business, finance and/or accounting, and students who are attending The Ohio State University.
Alexander McGlumphy received the Jeff Cox and Jane Schumacher Cox Scholarship, supporting students at Buckeye Trail High School and Monroe Central High School.
Justin Stambush received the Jenny Cornelius-Woltz Memorial Scholarship, supporting students graduating from John Glenn High School with a primary interest in nursing.
The Lester D. and Thelma I. Ellwood Scholarship supports access to educational opportunities by assisting Guernsey County high school graduates pursuing postsecondary education. The 2025 recipients are:

Travis Dodd, Alexander McGlumphy and Kendyl Trott received the Loran and Shirley Stutz Scholarship, providing postsecondary education support to students residing and attending school in the East Guernsey Local School District.
Brynn Eubanks and Chelsey Watson received the Mandy McGlumphy Social Work Scholarship, established to support the postsecondary education of students pursuing studies in the field of mental health.
Travis Dodd received the Michael C. Long Legacy Scholarship, supporting college-bound Buckeye Trail students.
Nicholas Norman is the inaugural recipient of the Ralph L. and Linda S. Warne Engineering Scholarship, supporting Guernsey County residents pursuing studies in engineering at an accredited engineering college or university in Ohio.
Madison Peters received the Rose Elizabeth Bell MacConkey Scholarship for Women Going into a Career in Business, awarded to Cambridge High School students.
FAO partners with donors, an advisory committee of volunteers and its affiliate foundations, including the Guernsey County Foundation, to award scholarships to students across the 32 counties of Appalachian Ohio through a competitive application process.
To date this year, FAO has awarded more than 600 postsecondary scholarships to more than 300 students across 26 counties thanks to gifts from residents and friends of Appalachian Ohio who recognize the role education plays in ensuring the region’s people and communities can flourish.
