Deadline to apply for funding is March 15
NELSONVILLE, Ohio – The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO) is accepting 2024 scholarship applications from Feb. 15 through March 15. Funding is available to help students in the 32 counties of Appalachian Ohio pursue their educational and career goals.
Over the past 20 years, FAO’s scholarship program has grown to more than 280 donor-established funds that help students pursue postsecondary studies at institutions of higher education or through vocational programs. Each of these funds is fueled by donors who recognize the vital role education plays in the future success of Appalachian Ohio’s people and communities.
This year, four new scholarship funds have been added to FAO’s general application. They are:
- The Cambridge High School Class of 1957 Scholarship Fund, supporting graduating seniors of Cambridge High School who have demonstrated academic improvement throughout their high school years
- The Charles A. and Joan Corder Memorial Scholarship Fund, supporting students from Meigs County who have attained at least junior status at an accredited postsecondary institution and maintained a 2.4 grade point average
- The Dr. Joanelle Wargo Long Legacy Scholarship Fund, supporting students who are current or past 4-H members and/or advisors pursuing postsecondary education at The Ohio State University or another Ohio institution of higher education and majoring in education, home economics or public school administration
- MPLX Scholarship, supporting graduating seniors of Harrison Central High School, Caldwell High School or Shenandoah High School pursuing a certificate, associate degree or bachelor’s degree in a field related to the gas industry or a STEM area of study (with preference given to students who demonstrate academic achievement, are involved in extracurricular activities and are active in their community and/or work)
Information about individual scholarship opportunities, including guidelines, eligibility requirements and application materials, are available at www.AppalachianOhio.org/ScholarshipApplications. Completed applications and all accompanying materials must be emailed to Scholarships@ffao.org by March 15, 2024, or mailed with postmark by March 15, 2024, to the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio, 35 Public Square, Nelsonville, OH 45764.
