Ohio Community Service Council Seeking Input

Ohio Non-Profit & Volunteerism Leaders:

For more than 16 years, the Ohio Community Service Council has funded AmeriCorps programs that have directly impacts the lives of individuals and families and changed communities.  Each year, more than 600 AmeriCorps members have engaged in service on behalf of local non-profits, schools, and community-based agencies to meet the growing needs faced by Ohioans every day.  As needs and opportunities grow, resources continue to be stretched to meet these growing demands.  Demand, across the country, for national service resources has grown significantly in recent years as more organizations see AmeriCorps as a viable part of their solution to the challenges they are addressing.

In an effort to build on the enthusiasm and interest in AmeriCorps resources, the Ohio Community Service Council is seeking to identify regional collaborations that may be interested in applying for and hosting an AmeriCorps program to address a specific need in that region.

Please read a brief, one-page document outlining this initial approach.

To gauge interest, further explore opportunities, and share next steps, the Ohio Community Service Council will host a conference call on June 15, 2011 from 10:00am – 11:30am. To RSVP for the call and receive call-in instructions, please contact Ryan Schmiesing, Ph.D., Director of Programs at ryan.schmiesing@ocsc.state.oh.us by June 13, 2011.
