More than $314,000 in funding to support nonprofit and public projects, programs<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NELSONVILLE, Ohio<\/strong> \u2013 The 15 foundation affiliates of the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO) have awarded more than $314,000 in grants to advance projects and programs benefiting individuals and communities throughout the 32-county region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe awarding of annual community fund grants is a pinnacle moment of our year at the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio,\u201d said Cara Dingus Brook, FAO president and CEO. \u201cIt\u2019s a testament to the hard work, generosity and love that those who support Appalachian Ohio show through gifts of time, talent and treasure. Working together, we are creating life-changing opportunities and communities that are vibrant, healthy and poised for future growth and success.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this year, 14 local foundation affiliates and the regionwide African American Community Fund, in partnership with the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio and FAO\u2019s I\u2019m a Child of Appalachia\u00ae<\/sup><\/em> Fund, invited nonprofit and public organizations to apply for grants for projects and programs benefiting the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grants were awarded across FAO\u2019s Pillars of Prosperity<\/em>, five areas crucial to generating and sustaining transformative change in the region: arts and culture, community and economic development, education, environmental stewardship, and health and human services. Preference was given to efforts that increase quality of life, create access to opportunities or implement a solution to a local need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the 2022 funding cycle, 136 grants were awarded:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The African American Community Fund awarded 17 grants<\/a>, totaling nearly $58,000.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Gallia Community Foundation awarded five grants<\/a>, totaling nearly $15,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Guernsey County Foundation awarded 16 grants<\/a>, totaling more than $31,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Harrison County Community Foundation awarded 10 grants<\/a>, totaling more than $24,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Highland County Community Fund awarded five grants<\/a>, totaling $10,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hocking County Community Fund awarded 10 grants<\/a>, totaling $10,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jackson County Community Foundation awarded five grants<\/a>, totaling more than $12,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lawrence County Community Foundation, which joined FAO earlier this year, awarded five grants<\/a>, totaling $10,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Meigs County Foundation awarded 11 grants<\/a>, totaling more than $45,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Monroe County Community Foundation awarded eight grants<\/a>, totaling nearly $15,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Morgan Community Fund awarded 11 grants<\/a>, totaling more than $14,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Nelsonville Community Foundation awarded nine grants<\/a>, totaling more than $23,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Noble County Community Foundation, which joined FAO earlier this year, awarded nine grants<\/a>, totaling $10,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Community Foundation for Perry County awarded nine grants<\/a>, totaling more than $25,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Vinton County Community Fund, which joined FAO earlier this year, awarded five grants<\/a>, totaling $10,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
