Morgan Community Fund Fortuna Grant Program Accepting Applications


Deadline to Apply is October 31

McConnelsville, OH – The Morgan Community Fund is pleased to announce that its Fortuna Grant Program will accept applications for projects serving Morgan County from October 1 through October 31, 2020.

Individual grant awards will range between $500 and $5,000, with a total of $10,000 available in this grant round. Public and nonprofit organizations serving Morgan County are invited to submit applications for projects that will benefit the Morgan County community. Projects that include guidance or instruction in cultural arts, wellness, environment, economic, or technology subjects will be favored. At this time, the Fortuna Grant Program does not accept applications for operating capital, buildings and equipment, or start-up expenses.

Applications, available at www.AppalachianOhio.org/Morgan, must be submitted with a 501(c)(3) IRS determination letter or audited financial statements for public organizations. Fortuna Grant Program applications must be post-marked by October 31, 2020, and mailed to Morgan Community Fund, P.O. Box 577, McConnelsville, OH 43756.

In 2019, grants supported Morgan County projects such as a summer arts camp for youth; a health and wellness program; spay/neuter clinics and rabies vaccinations for cats; the promotion of Morgan County attractions to guide community visitors; an after-school mentorship program for elementary students; a summer technology camp; basic needs provision; sports activities for individuals with developmental disabilities; and a field trip for elementary students to attend the Chesterhill Produce Auction.

The Morgan Community Fund was established in 2008 to ensure permanent support for the citizens and communities of Morgan County. A local community fund of the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio, the Morgan Community Fund works to inspire philanthropy. The local Morgan Community Fund Board includes Cinda Erickson, Tyler Hickerson, Amanda Pierce, Quincy Robe, John Wells, Kelsey Wells, Richard Wetzel, and Mike Workman.

Gifts to the Morgan Community Fund are tax deductible and can be made in many ways, including cash, bequests, life insurance, and charitable remainder trusts.
